The Band Experience

The band program is for distinguished students seeking additional music experience in a large instrumental performing ensemble.  This ensemble is treated as a professional performance opportunity of high quality and caliber beyond the general music classroom.  All the repertoire chosen for this ensemble have higher than average music demands and challenges every student’s instrumental and music theory abilities.  We are looking forward to the upcoming seasonal winter and spring concerts as well as additional volunteer community concerts throughout the year.  Students are expected to participate the full year with appropriate behavior and attendance while continuing to achieve academic goals in the general classroom.  Band registration is open to all students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade.  Here’s to another successful year of playing beautifully together and making musical memories to last a lifetime.
 

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will begin on Monday, September 23rd, 2024.  All rehearsals are held in the elementary library from 3:00 - 4:00 pm on Mondays for all band members.  Students are expected to be prepared for rehearsal with their instrument, music stand, folder, sheet music, and a pencil.  Students will be released at the side entrance closest to the main parking lot of the school following rehearsals.  Please have transportation arrive in a timely manner and have alternate plans in place in case of emergencies.  There are no rehearsals on days with early dismissal, parent-teacher conferences, or back-to-school nights.

Instrument Rentals

Instrument rental is available through Music and Arts corporation by following the link below.  When choosing the instrument, your choices for our band are flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or percussion combo kit.

Performances

Our morning winter concert will be held on December 10th for staff and students and our evening winter concert will be held on December 12th at 6:30 pm and our spring concert will be held in May or June at the high school auditorium open to the public free of charge.  Band members should arrive at the high school stage through the side doors and be on stage ready to warm-up at 5:45 pm prior to each evening concert.  Doors will open at 6:15 pm.  Winter concert attire will be black pants or skirts/dresses with white tops and black socks and shoes, no t-shirts, jeans,  or sneakers for the winter concert.  Spring concert attire will be black pants/shorts/skirts with band t-shirts.  Students are required to bring their own sheet music to each performance.  Additional performance details will be communicated via Parent Square.
